Kate Spade
"Live Colorfully"
- Mental Health Awareness
- Although the Kate Spade Brand donated 1 million dollars to the National Suicide Prevention Foundation following Kate Spade’s death, the brand should have made a more bold statement.
- Other things they could have done include:
- A major event for their customers that would bring attention to mental health issues that people face everyday.
- Make a collection of handbags that when sold, a percentage of the revenue would be donated to the American Mental Health Foundation
- Make a bigger effort of empowering women through community outreach.
- Through Kate Spade’s sophisticated designs, they make women feel empowered on a day-to-day basis. However, Kate Spade should be taking bigger steps towards empowering women by:
- Holding seminars that will give business-minded women the tools and tips to succeed in the professional world.
- Provide scholarships to a larger base of women who are looking to go back to school.
- Need for a revamped meaning behind the brand
- With Kate Spade’s devastating suicide, the brand is having an identity crisis and is in need of a makeover. Some things we would suggest are:
- Since so many consumers resonated with Kate Spade the business- woman and designer, there needs to be more celebrity promotion so that consumers can create a new connection with the brand.
- For example, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is already a dedicated Kate Spade fan. Celebrity support from women like her would be a huge lift to the brand’s image
- The Kate Spade Brand social media platforms currently are not maintaining a personal connection with their customers. The platforms need to give more inspiration to their customers and not just display their products.
- For example, on Instagram they should include more inspiring lifestyle pictures and posts of women.
- Also, on Facebook there needs to be improvement in keeping this page updated regularly with upcoming events, photos, and videos on the brand
